Krisnan Inu is set to make his debut for Widnes Vikings against Whitehaven on Friday.

Widnes host League 1 side Whitehaven at the Select Security Stadium on Friday night, 8pm kick-off.

And Vikings head coach, Denis Betts, has added that a number of big-name players will feature on Friday.

He told widnesvikings.co.uk: “It’s a game to blow the cobwebs off some players who perhaps haven’t played very much in the past four months.

“The likes of Rhys Hanbury, Danny Craven, Charly Runciman and Pat Ah Van will all play. They’ll add a lot of sting and punch to us. It’s a great game for people to get out there and support the team.

“The game also establishes us in the contact arena. It’s hard to do that when you are running against each other (in training). The players are having constant battles against each other in fights, contacts and wrestles, but there’s nothing like a game.

“We do need a hit out and this game will give us it.”

Widnes edged past local rivals Warrington Wolves in the annual Festive Derby, where a young Vikings team beat a Wolves side that featured seven international players.

On the victory, Betts added: “The young lads stood up (in that game). When you look at the number of home-grown players in that team, you can see that the potential in them has been nurtured and came to the fore in that game.”
