Hull showed no respect, says Gentle

Hull FC coach Peter Gentle says his side showed no respect in their 44-12 defeat at Catalan.

The Airlie Birds travelled to the south of France for the second time this season, following the earlier postponement of the round two fixture in February.

Gentle said: “I think some of our players are over confident, there was no respect for the ball, no respect for the rules, and when you look at the number of penalties we’re giving away you can’t deny that.

“We’re taking a long while to learn a lesson about discipline and we’ve got to be much smarter than we’re showing.

“We need to be more disciplined in our attack which we weren’t and we paid the penalty with a very poor completion rate.”

Hull FC will take on Hull KR on Monday, July 23, a game Gentle must pick his side up for in order to create a potential five point gap between both clubs who lie in eighth and ninth place respectively.

Gentle said: “We’ve got the derby next week and a hard turnaround. We must pick ourselves up and be a lot better.”
