Darnell McIntosh of Hull celebrates his try

Darnell McIntosh and Connor Wynne scored a hat-trick each to help Hull to a 48-12 thrashing of Super League strugglers Toulouse.

It was the French side who posted the first points as USA international Junior Vaivai got on the end of a grubber to score. Anthony Marion’s conversion gave the visitors a 6-0 lead after 11 minutes.

But Hull replied in the 17th minute thanks to an acrobatic finish in the corner from Darnell McIntosh.

The Airlie Birds took the lead midway through the first half when Connor Wynne took on a few Toulouse defenders to score. Jake Connor’s conversion put Hull into a 10-6 advantage.

Hull were hitting peak form at the back end of the half, with Fiji international Joe Lovodua going over.

Brett Hodgson’s side scored two more tries in the final 10 minutes of the first half through McIntosh and Wynne. Hull went into the sheds at half-time 26-6 to the good.

Toulouse came out fighting in the second half as France international Anthony Marion went over to convert his own try.

It was a dream start to Denive Balmforth’s debut in the 56th minute. The young hooker got on the scoresheet just two minutes after coming on the field.

McIntosh and Wynne both completed their hat-tricks as the game entered the final quarter, putting the game out of reach for Toulouse.

And with five minutes left on the clock, Lovodua found his Fijian team-mate Kane Evans who touched down. Connor’s conversion wrapped up a strong 48-12 win for Hull.
