Huddersfield youngster earns full time deal

Young Huddersfield stand-off or centre Jake Connor has been given a full time two-year deal at the club.

Connor, 17, impressed for the club’s academy last season, and becomes the third first year full time professional in the Giants 2013 squad, following Nathan Mason and Peter Aspinall in to the fold.

Huddersfield’s Head of Youth, Peter Riding, said: “Jake is a naturally talented rugby league player with outstanding skills. Whenever he has the ball things happen for him and the others around him.

“I am delighted that the club has been able to move him into the full time group on a permanent basis after he had already spent time in that environment.

“Positionally I am not sure yet where will be his best slot and we will no doubt try him at centre and six throughout the year in the under nineteen’s but the big advantage he will now have will be his increased fitness, speed and strength all of which coupled with the more detailed in depth specific coaching that the full time contract will make him a very exciting player to have around.”
