Hemingway given more time

Featherstone Rovers have given former Blackpool and Huddersfield halfback Tom Hemingway another month to prove his worth to last season’s Championship League Leaders.

Daryl Powell’s team have been impressive in pre-season with good wins over Hunslet and Leeds while the younger members of the squad also came out in very favourable light, following victories over Oldham and Gateshead Thunder.

So far Hemingway has played little more than a bit part in Rovers on-field preparations but the 24- year-old looks set to be given his chance.

“Tom is now here until the end of February,” Powell confirmed. “We were all too happy to give Tom a chance and although he hasn’t played a lot for us, he’ll have more opportunities.”

Last term Hemingway came of age in Championship One with a string of impressive performances and ended the season with 9 tries and 128 goals as Blackpool finished in fourth position.
