Hawksworth earns York deal

York have signed former Hemel prop Dan Hawksworth on a one-year deal.

Hawksworth, 26, has been on trial with the City Knights during pre-season, featuring in all of their friendly games to date.

Head Coach James Ford said: “Dans an athletic front rower who’s shown plenty of desire, toughness and commitment. He’s got one or two areas to tidy up in his game, but if he does that I’m confident he’ll be a real handful for our opponents.

“Dans slotted into our culture well and if this approach remains he will continue to develop.”
Hawksworth made 15 appearances for Hemel in 2017, scoring two tries.

He said: “I’m delighted to have signed for the Knights – the standards expected at he club are quite a step up, so I’m looking forward to seeing what I can achieve.

“The squad is full of quality and I’ve already learned a lot from the senior boys within it.”
