Haven confirm Houghton signing

Whitehaven have announced the signing of prop forward Dave Houghton from Widnes Vikings on a one-year deal.

The 22-year-old made his first team debut for the Vikings in the group stages of the 2009 Northern Rail Cup campaign and then went on to join Rochdale Hornets on loan until the end of the season.

The 2010 season saw Houghton make 23 appearances for Widnes, getting on the score sheet three times in the process.

As part of Widnes’ preparation for the 2012 Super League campaign, it was announced that Houghton, along with 12 others, would be released from the squad.

The prop forward will now join up with his Haven team mates as they aim to make a promotion push to the Championship in 2012.
