Newcastle have retained the services of back-rower Harry Aldous for the 2019 season.

Aldous, the younger brother of Thunder team-mate Jack, has been a regular in the Newcastle back-row for the past three seasons.

He joined Thunder after coming through the ranks at Hull Kingston Rovers and has since made 71 appearances for the League 1 club.

On extending his stay at Newcastle, Aldous said: “I’m delighted to have signed again at Newcastle Thunder, it will be my fourth year at the club and was an easy decision to stay for the 2019 season.

“We didn’t finish where we wanted too over the last few seasons but have improved massively each year.

“The club have made some big signings for next year and the squad Jason [Payne] is putting together looks really exciting, I’m really looking forward to a big year as we push for promotion.”

Thunder head coach Jason Payne said: “Harry is one of our most consistent performers so I’m delighted to have retained him for next season.

“He brings a tireless work rate and a brilliant attitude and regularly produces man of the match performances.

“He is still a very young player and he has the potential to push on to even higher levels than he already achieves and I think he is going to have a big season for both us and himself in 2019.”
