Hull KR stand-off Blake Green will be out of action indefinitely after developing a blood clot in his leg.

Green, 25, will miss the start of the new Super League season and the local press have reported that he could be missing for six months.

A club statement said: “Blake is receiving treatment for this condition in line with medical standards of best practice and further investigations will take place over the coming few days.

“Blake’s health and wellbeing is our primary concern and as a result he will not be available for selection until further notice. Out of respect to the player, the club will be making no further comment on this matter.”

Green joined Rovers from Canterbury Bulldogs in time for the 2011 season.

He made 43 appearances in the NRL for Parramatta, Cronulla and the Bulldogs, before moving to the UK to partner Michael Dobson at Craven Park, scoring 14 tries in his first season.
