Gentle wants smarter Hull

Hull coach Peter Gentle wants his side to cut out the mistakes that cost his side an opening day victory against Warrington when they face Catalan on Saturday.

Gentle was denied victory in his first competitive game in charge at the KC Stadium, with Rhys Evans‘ late try securing a 20-20 draw for the Wolves.

He told the club’s official website: “We cannot afford to hand Catalans cheap possession and territory, so we’ll need to be a bit smarter about when we attack and when and when not to push the ball.

“We should have closed the game out against Warrington, but we weren’t thinking about what we were doing enough and what we were looking to achieve.

“That’s a definite area to improve going into the Catalans game as we can’t afford to hand them cheap possession and territory.”

Hull are still without new signings Aaron Heremaia, Brett Seymour and Eamon O’Carroll, who all once again miss out through injury.
