Friday night lights: Abdull kicks Hull KR to victory as Saints march on

There were two games in Round Seven of Super League on Friday night, with Hull KR and champions St Helens emerging victorious.

Hull KR 20-12 Leeds

Leeds were dealt a blow when winger David Fusitu’a was forced from the field in the 14th minute with an injury to his left ankle. The Tonga international didn’t return to the action.

The Robins were 14-0 to the good at the break thanks to first half tries from Ireland international Louis Senior and former Samoa international Sauaso Sue.

Leeds failed to deal with the second half restart from the Robins, which resulted in Kane Linnett extending Hull KR’s lead.

Wales international Luis Roberts pulled one back for the Rhinos in the 44th minute.

Leeds scored another consolation late on through Ireland international James McDonnell, who got on the end of Aidan Sezer’s grubber.

But it was Hull KR who finished 20-12 winners thanks to a man of the match display from Jordan Abdull.

St Helens 38-0 Wakefield

World champions St Helens ran in seven tries to pick up a comfortable 38-0 win over Wakefield at The Totally Wicked Stadium.

Paul Wellens’ side were dealt a blow in the opening stages though when prop Alex Walmsley was forced to leave the field with a hamstring injury.

Saints were 12-0 up at half-time thanks to tries from Mark Percival, Will Hopoate and Tommy Makinson.

The hosts posted further tries in the second half through Lewis Dodd, Jonny Lomax and a brace from Konrad Hurrell.

It is the fourth time in seven games that Wakefield have failed to score.
