Catalans coach Laurent Frayssinous hailed the impact of his star recruit Greg Bird in their 16-14 win against Hull FC last night.
Bird set up a try for Richie Myler, was sin-binned and was strong defensively in a busy 80-minute display.
“Greg Bird is a great player and I’m happy he’s in my side,” Frayssinous said.
“He works so hard for his team-mates.”
Frayssinous admitted the match was far from easy on the eye.
“That was a not a pretty, pretty game to watch,” he told Sky Sports.
“But we dug very, very deep. After 14 minutes we only had 14 players, only one hooker, so we had to work very, very hard to come away with the two points tonight.
“Now it’s our challenge to stay consistent against Widnes. So far after two games, it’s pleasing.”
