Former Batley full-back and current Bramley Buffaloes head coach Craig Lingard will appear on TV’s Countdown this week and next.

Lingard starred for the Bulldogs in a 10 year career at Mount Pleasant, and is currently waiting for Bramley’s first Conference Three game of the season, following three postponements.

In the meantime, he has pit his wits against other contestants in the popular TV programme, televised on Channel 4, and currently hosted by Nick Hewer and Rachael Riley (pictured).

Bramley are hoping it’s fourth time lucky this Sunday, when they are due to take on Nottingham Outlaws at the Arthur Miller Stadium in Stanningley.

Lingard said: “We have an eager bunch of players all desperate to pull on the Bramley jersey and there will be a few new faces in the team for a game which we hope will attract a good crowd.

“One of the unique selling points of the club when I talk to prospective players is the level of support we receive from the sidelines and I hope they will show up in numbers and witness our start to the campaign even if I can’t!

“The Outlaws are a solid outfit who have established themselves at this level in recent seasons and they’ve had a steady start to the season despite losing heavily to Warrington Wizards last weekend.”
