England and Wigan half-back George Williams has been ruled out for four to six weeks with a knee injury.

The 23-year-old will be out for at least the next month after picking up a posterior cruciate ligament injury in Wigan’s 14-10 win over Hull FC at KCOM Stadium last weekend.

Williams flew over to the United States with England on Sunday ahead of their mid-season Test against New Zealand in Denver.

But the extent of his injury only became apparent after travelling with the England team to Denver.

He will now stay in Denver with the England squad and return with the rest of the squad following Saturday’s game.

Williams will miss Wigan’s upcoming games against Castleford Tigers, Leeds Rhinos, Warrington Wolves and Huddersfield Giants.

Depending on how he recovers, Williams could also miss the final two games of the regular campaign against St Helens and Catalans Dragons.
