David Fifita leads Man of Steel race

James Gordon

Wakefield’s David Fifita is the new leader in the Super League Man of Steel race following his rampaging man of the match performance against Wigan at the weekend.

Fifita, 29, scooped the maximum three points to lift him to the top of the voting with 13 points, ahead of Warrington’s Blake Austin and James Roby of St Helens with 12.

Neither Austin or Roby gained any points during the meeting between their two sides, with Jonny Lomax, Lachlan Coote and Alex Walmsley instead rewarded.

Danny Brough, now sidelined through injury, scooped two points to move up to 11 points and fourth place, while Marc Sneyd’s match-winning display for Hull in Perpignan earned him three points, to put him fifth with 10 points.
