Dave Furner interviewed for Newcastle Knights job – reports

Drew Darbyshire

Former Leeds coach Dave Furner has been interviewed for the Newcastle Knights job, according to reports Down Under.

The Australian was sacked by the Rhinos just a couple of months into the Super League season earlier this year, having lost 10 from 14 games.

Nathan Brown has left his post as Knights coach with immediate effect and the club are currently searching for a new chief, with assistant Kristian Woolf being put in charge on an interim basis.

Sydney Roosters assistant coach Adam O’Brien was the favourite for the Newcastle vacancy but Furner was interviewed before O’Brien, according to The Syndey Morning Herald.

A final decision has yet to be made by the Newcastle board.
