Danes beat Norway in Nordic Cup

Denmark have triumphed 50-18 in the third match in this year’s Nordic Cup competition, meaning the series ends 2-1 to Norway.

The match, held in Roskilde, Denmark, saw the Norwegians lead three times, but lose momentum in the second half.

The Danes ran away with the game after the interval, with three tries from winger Mads Hansen helping them to take control.

“We were especially pleased to introduce several debutants, who all did themselves proud,” said Danish RL president Richard Munk Naylor.

“These two sides have put on higher quality performances but that’s part of the process of bringing in new talent and the players gelling together. I have a feeling that both Denmark and Sweden will be better next year.”

Sweden coach Ashley Brown felt that the young players in his team will have benefitted from the experience.

“We stuck with the Danes for the first half with a young team,” he said.

“I couldn’t fault the boys that made their debut and the experience will have done them good.”
