Dave Clark has left his role as head coach of South Wales Scorpions and departed Wales rugby league to join the RFL run Cumbrian Regional Academy.

Clark, who hails from Cardiff, has been at the club for two seasons and has helped to develop a number of young Welsh players to their professional Rugby League debuts and to Welsh honours at various levels.

He said: “It’s been a fantastic two years here in South Wales and I’m really pleased to have played my role in player development.

“I’m proud to be Welsh and I love my country but my family are based in Cumbria and it’s been very difficult for me to make 800 mile round trips on a weekly basis and be away from them for so much time during the week.

“I am delighted to still be in Rugby League and equally delighted to be joining a new role with the Cumbrian Regional Academy via the Rugby Football League. I played most of my Rugby League in Cumbria, for Barrow Raiders and I look forward to helping new players along in the other area of the UK that I have a passion for.”
