Championship round-up: Toronto clinch shield, Dewsbury hold Halifax to draw, Harris winner

Toronto lifted the Championship League Leaders’ Shield at Widnes on Sunday night. 

Toronto Wolfpack were made to work for the League Leaders’ Shield as they edged past Widnes Vikings 24-19 at the Halton Stadium.

Nick Rawsthorne, Chase Stanley, Bodene Thompson, Darcy Lussick and Anthony Mullally crossed for the Canadian outfit.

Rob Worrincy scored two late tries to rescue a point for Dewsbury Rams as they drew 28-28 against Halifax at the Tetley’s Stadium.

Sam Day, Adam Ryder, Andy Gabriel and Worrincy (2) scored for the Rams. James Saltonstall, Quentin Laulu-Togaga’e (2), Kevin Larroyer and Jacob Fairbank crossed for Fax.

Featherstone Rovers battered Rochdale Hornets 50-6 at the LD Nutrition Stadium.

Makahesi Makatoa, Cameron King, Luke Briscoe, Connor Jones, James Harrison, Ashton Golding, Brad Day (2) and Josh Walters went over for the Rovers.

Leigh Centurions continued their charge for promotion as they eased past Batley Bulldogs 48-12 at the Leigh Sports Village.

Swinton Lions are unbeaten in four matches as they beat Barrow Raiders 30-12 at Heywood Road.

A last-minute field goal from Liam Harris snatched a 25-24 victory for York City Knights against Bradford Bulls at Bootham Crescent.

Will Oakes (2) and Perry Whiteley (2) went over for the Knights. York’s Ronan Dixon was yellow carded on the half hour mark for working on the ground.

Toulouse Olympique brushed Sheffield Eagles aside 56-18 at the Stade Ernest Argeles on Saturday.

Paul Marcon (2), Joe Bretherton, Con Mika, Mark Kheirallah, Mathieu Jussaume, Dean Parata, Ilias Bergal (2) and Stan Robin crossed the whitewash for the French side.

Toronto, York, Toulouse, Leigh and Featherstone currently occupy the top five spots in the Championship league table.
