Challenge Cup semi-final draw set for Sunday

Rugby League legends Des Drummond and Henderson Gill will conduct the draw for the semi-finals of the 2013 Tetley’s Challenge Cup on Sunday (July 14).

Drummond and Gill were two of Rugby League’s celebrated wingers of the 1980s and 1990s when their try-scoring prowess at club and international level made them hugely popular figures.

Gill was twice a winner at Wembley with Wigan, first in the greatest ever Challenge Cup final of 1985, when he scored one try and kicked three goals in a 28-24 victory over Hull FC, and again in 1988, when his try helped Wigan to a 32-12 defeat of Halifax.

Drummond, who gained 24 caps for Great Britain between 1980 and 1988, played in just one Challenge Cup final at Wembley in 1990, when Warrington fell 36-14 to an all-conquering Wigan side.

The draw will take place live on BBC2 following the conclusion of the Warrington Wolves v Huddersfield Giants quarter-final, which kicks off at 4.15.

The semi-finals of the 2013 Tetley’s Challenge Cup will take place on Saturday and Sunday July 27 and 28. Details of venues will be confirmed early next week once the quarter-finals have been completed.

The 2013 Tetley’s Challenge Cup quarter-finals are as follows:

Saturday July 13 – Catalan Dragons v Hull FC (4.00, BBC2)

Sunday July 14 – Warrington Wolves v Huddersfield Giants (4.15, BBC2)
