Catalans interested in Wigan star Sam Tomkins

Catalans want to bring Wigan full-back Sam Tomkins to Perpignan for the 2019 season and beyond.

Dragons coach Steve McNamara is intent on making Tomkins his number one for next season, loverugbyleague.com understands.

The 29-year-old is out of contract at the end of this season.

But Wigan do have a one-year option on his deal, so if they took up that option, Tomkins would remain at the DW Stadium next year.

Or the England international could join Catalans on a free transfer at the end of this campaign.

McNamara appears to be a keen admirer of Tomkins, with the pair having previously worked together the England camp.

He could potentially link up with old pal Micky McIlorum in the South of France next year.

Interestingly enough, Wigan travel to the Stade Gilbert Brutus to face Catalans this Saturday.
