Castleford Tigers have confirmed the immediate departure of head coach Andy Last following their 28-0 home defeat to Huddersfield Giants.

The Tigers were beaten convincingly by the Giants at the Mend-A-Hose Jungle, with a hat-trick from Sam Halsall condemning Castleford to a fifth straight defeat.

Last, who took over the head coaching reins in March after Lee Radford stepped down, didn’t take his post-match press conference after their defeat to Huddersfield.

And the club have now confirmed that Last has left the club with immediate effect.

A club statement read: “Castleford Tigers can confirm that Andy Last has departed the club with immediate effect.

“The club will make a further statement after the weekend.”

Castleford are currently sat bottom of the Super League table, sitting just below Wakefield Trinity on points difference.

Castleford, who have won from 21 Super League matches this season, face Wakefield in their next match on Friday, August 18.
