Mark Cass has returned to Hunslet as assistant coach after completing a 12-month ban for illegal betting.

Cass was found to have bet on matches involving Oldham, while he was assistant coach at Boundary Park, but will now return to the game after his suspension expired at the start of August.

Director of Rugby Darren Williams said: “We’re thrilled to have Mark back on board with us again, he is Hunslet through and through and was looking to get back involved in the game that’s been his life for over 20 years. His main responsibilities will be on match days although he will also have some input on the training field.”

A former Hawks player and coach, Cass will act as assistant to current player-coach Paul March.

Williams added: “This appointment will allow Steve Parnell to concentrate his energies as part of our development team working in the schools and communities of South Leeds and also sees current reserve grade coach Gary Lord promoted to Team Manager. I am pretty sure that with a coaching team of Paul, Gary and Mark our future is in safe hands and the experience they all have in the game stands us in good stead for the coming season. “

Meanwhile the Hawks have added Andrew Langford to the backroom staff as Conditioner.
