Castleford have handed young hooker Daryl Clark a new contract at The Jungle.

The 17-year-old former Fryston ARL player has been in outstanding form for the clubs Under 18’s this year and last week was elevated to the Under-20’s where he scored a fine try against Harlequins.

The new deal runs until the end of the 2013 season.

Clark said: “I’m really pleased to have agreed a new deal with the Tigers, I’m enjoying life at the club and learning a lot from Ryan Hudson in training. Obviously my ambition is to play in Super League and seeing how the club have given young players a chance this season, I can see that there are opportunities if you are prepared to work hard and that is what I’m aiming to do.”

Tigers coach Terry Matterson said: “This is good news for the club, Daryl is a very exciting prospect, he has been training with the club full time and shaping up well and I believe that he has the potential to make his mark in the top flight.”
