Doncaster chief executive Carl Hall has said the club are looking at bringing a couple more players in before the start of the 2022 season.

The Dons have already confirmed several signings and re-signings, as they look to go one better in League One. They reached the playoff final, before losing out to Workington.

Hall said, while satisfied with what Doncaster have so far, they will be looking to add a couple more to complement what they have already.

In an interview with the club’s YouTube channel, Hall said: “We’ve spoken to a couple more, and we are just waiting on decisions with them.

“We will look at the loan market as well and have discussions with clubs.

“We are really happy with where we are. If we get the couple we want coming in, and then a couple on loan, we will be strong again.

Hall determined to get Doncaster up

The Dons CEO also affirmed the club’s target to go one better in 2022. They have come close in the last couple of seasons. They lost the playoff final against Workington in 2021, and also lost in the semi-finals against Newcastle in 2019.

On the club’s targets, Hall added: “It took some getting over losing that final, but the year before it took getting over losing that semi-final.

“We’ve been here before. We have made no secret of the fact we want to try and go one better. We’re doing everything we can to try and do that.

“It’s an important couple of years for the sport. We’ve got a couple of years to get the club where we want to get it to, and where it needs to be.

“We’re really gearing up and going for it.”

Challenge Cup draw and League One fixtures

Doncaster will begin their 2021 season in a month’s time when they face either Thornhill or the RAF in the Challenge Cup.

Should they face Thornhill, it will be a repeat of the 2020 tie, where the Dons struck late to avoid an upset.

Meanwhile, their League One campaign gets underway at the end of March, when they host Midlands Hurricanes.
