Carl Forster has re-joined Whitehaven on a player contract until the end of the season.

The Cumbrian side have beaten several other clubs to secure Forster’s signature and re-joins the club to bolster their forward pack as they aim for promotion to the Championship.

Forster was sacked as Rochdale head coach earlier this month after winning just one game out of 10 this season.

The 26-year-old previously spent time at Haven between 2017-18, where he was player-coach and won 26 games out of 34.

Whitehaven coach Gary Charlton said: “I’m pleased to have him on board.

“He will bring size and experience to the team, and he’s just the sort of player we have been looking for to complement our other front-rowers.

“Carl is well thought of up here and will fit in without any problems.”

Forster added: “I’m really looking forward to pulling the Haven shirt on again and getting back in front of the fans at the Recreation [Recreation Ground].

“I just want to get back to enjoying my rugby and hopefully the team achieve promotion.”
