Cardiff beats Widnes in Year 7 Champion Schools final

Rugby league in Wales received another boost at the weekend when the Cardiff-based Ysgol Gyfun Gymraeg Glantaf beat Wade Deacon school from Widnes at Wembley.

The final score in the curtain-raiser for the Challenge Cup final was 40-6 in favour of the Welsh youngsters.

The team of 12-year-olds were only seven games into their rugby league careers, but showed fine form and natural ability to sweep the Widnesians aside in some style in the 40-minute match.
