Salford have signed prop Luke Burgess from Catalans on a one-year deal.

Burgess, 30, had a stint with the Red Devils during the 2016 qualifiers campaign and starred in the Million Pound Game win over Hull KR.

Coach Ian Watson said: “We’re delighted to bring Luke back to the Club. He’s going to be another big signing for us going forward.

“I’ve been keeping tabs on him since Luke impressed in his spell with us at the end of 2016 and bringing him back is massive for us.”

An injury-hit 2017 season in France limited him to just five appearances for the Dragons, who confirmed the release from his contract earlier on Monday.

Super League and NRL winner Burgess began his career at Leeds before spells with South Sydney and Manly in the NRL, where he made a total of 70 appearances.
