Canberra’s match up with premiership contenders Canterbury on Friday is a “huge” challenge, according to skipper David Shillingon.

The Raiders boosted their finals chances with a narrow victory over the Roosters on Saturday but need to beat the Bulldogs to break into the top eight.

“Next week is a huge game,” said Shillington.

“We’re going to have to play semi final type football. We’ve been talking about it for a while, we haven’t quite been there. We’re going to need a huge crowd behind us here at Canberra Stadium. I can’t wait, it’s shaping up to be a big one.

“It’s a huge game for us – the Bulldogs are playing such good footy, and we’re still in the race for the finals.

“It’s a short turnaround – hopefully the boys take care of all the injuries, bumps and bruises, and all the Canberra fans get out and support us on Friday night. It’s going to be a massive game for us.”
