Briscoe urges fans to get behind Hull

Tom Briscoe is urging some of Rugby League’s most passionate fans to crank up the atmosphere to new levels when Hull FC make their first home appearance of the 2010 Engage Super League season on Friday night.

Six days after a vociferous black and white army cheered Hull FC to a shock 32-12 victory at St Helens, Briscoe and his team-mates will face Huddersfield Giants in an intriguing fixture at the KC Stadium

Huddersfield go into the game having completed a crushing victory over Bradford Bulls in their first match but Briscoe believes that with the sound of Old Faithful reverberating around the stadium, it will need something special to deny Hull FC at home.

“The fans were great at Knowsley Road, there’s no-one else quite like them and I hope they’re going to be in good voice on Friday night,” said the 19-year-old England winger.

“It’s like having an extra man on the field, they really give you a lift and I’m sure the atmosphere is going to be electric.”

Briscoe scoring a stunning 70-metre try at foggy St Helens last week and though Hull FC have been lauded for their early success, the teenager insists no-one has lost sight of the challenge they face.

“We won our first five matches last season and ended the season in 12th place so nobody is getting carried away,” he said. “However this time there’s a real buzz at the club and everyone is confident for what lies ahead in 2010.

“We have a lot more strength in depth than we did last year, there’s a great balance of youth and experience and a burning desire for success.

“We have under-achieved in the last two years and we all know we let ourselves and the fans down. Now I think we’re on the verge of something special and it would be great to have as many Hull FC fans along with us in what’s going to be a successful 2010.”
