Bradford sign Peltier

Bradford haved signed Bradford-born front-rower Ross Peltier from Keighley.

The 24-year old has signed a two-year deal at the Provident Stadium and will join the Bulls after completing the current season with the Cougars.

Peltier, who grew up supporting the Bulls, began his career with Huddersfield Giants, starring for the Super League’s sides’ Academy team, before making the move to Cougar Park.

The Jamaican international has also had spells playing in Australia with Whitsunday Brahman and for rugby union club Bradford & Bingley Bees.

“He’s got a point to prove,” Bulls head coach Rohan Smith said.

“Ross has got an opportunity to establish himself in a full-time environment and he really wants to train hard to give himself the best chance to make an impact.

“He needs to work on his all-round game as a front-rower, but he’s definitely going to bring some leg speed and tackle breaking to our middle unit.

“He’s going to have a lot of hard work in front of him, but I’m expecting Ross to have a breakout season next year.”

Peltier has scored eight tries in 21 appearances for the Cougars so far this season.

“I’ve been a Bulls fan all my life,” Peltier said.

“I signed a scholarship at the Bulls when I was 12, worked as a ball boy and did my school work experience at the stadium. The club was my life growing up.

“I’m very excited to get back into a full-time environment. It’s been the aim since I left Huddersfield three or four years ago.

“This season has been a really big one for me. Everything has started to come together and hopefully, next season, it can go up another ten times!

“My biggest strength is with ball in hand, making a lot of big carries. Hopefully I can carry on from this season and score a lot of tries again.”
