Blair suspended for Panthers clash

The loss of Adam Blair to suspension could hurt Wests Tiger’s hopes of overturning Penrith, according to his team mate Beau Ryan.

Blair was slapped with a one match suspension by the NRL judiciary after appearing to twist the leg of Canterbury centre Josh Morris in last Friday’s match at Allianz Stadium.

Team mate Beau Ryan meanwhile says the Tigers will have to double their efforts in order to make up for the loss of New Zealand second-rower Blair.

“Adam has been consistent for us all year,’’ Ryan told the Tigers’ official website.

“He has been under pressure since he came from Melbourne but he has been great in the middle for us. He has worked hard.’’

“The media and the fans have put a lot of pressure on him but I think he has been good. The coach is happy with him, we are happy with him.

“Missing Gareth Ellis and Adam, two key players, is going to hurt us.”

Ryan will return to his favoured wing position to may room for Tim Moltzen who will wear the number 1 jersey after recovering from a hamstring injury.

“I enjoyed playing full-back but wherever Tim (Sheens) wants me to play, whether it is centre or wing, I will do what is best for the side,’’ Ryan said.

“Full-back is enjoyable. It is a bit tougher than playing on the wing. I enjoyed my time there.’’
