Betts: We were poor

Widnes coach Denis Betts says his team was poor in attack in their 16-0 friendly loss to St Helens.

The Vikings failed to score a point at Langtree Park on Sunday.

“We were poor with the ball,” Betts admitted.

“Defensively we were pretty good, we worked really hard but we had to.

“We were dull with the ball, really poor. It didn’t look like us at all in training, we just didn’t do anything with the ball.

“We lacked some energy, I think that comes from Saints really running hard. It drained our energy.

“I thought today we were just off with the ball.”
