Who has the best record in the Super 8s?

James Gordon

It’s the third season of the Super League Super 8s and only four teams have an ever present record.

Castleford, Hull, St Helens and Wigan have all featured since the concept was introduced in 2015, with Catalans and Warrington missing out this year for the first time.

Wigan boast the best record in the Super 8s format, winning 10 and losing four of their 14 games, ahead of St Helens (9-5) and Castleford (8-6).

Hull, in contrast, have won only 4 of their 14 games in this phase of the season.

Huddersfield, who played in The Qualifiers last season, have a percentage record that matches that of Warriors, having won five of their seven games in 2015.

Wakefield are playing in the Super 8s for a second successive season and will be looking to register their first win in 2017.

Meanwhile, it is Salford’s first appearance in the Super 8s. They memorably survived relegation to the Championship last season with their dramatic victory over Hull KR in the Million Pound Game. It also means that of the current Super League teams, only Leigh have never made an appearance in the Super 8s (albeit they’ve only had one season to do so).

Completing the set of eight this year is second placed Leeds, who won four and lost three in 2015. They did, however, win six of seven games in The Qualifiers last season.
