Australia hooker Damien Cook has signed a new five-year deal with South Sydney Rabbitohs.

The 27-year-old has played 74 matches in the NRL since making his debut for St George Illawarra Dragons back in 2013.

During his time with the Rabbitohs – which began in 2016 – Cook has become the Australian and New South Wales number nine.

On his new deal, Cook commented: “I’m very excited to be extending my contract with the Rabbitohs and I’m very happy to have my future sorted.

“Souths has been my home for the past three years and I didn’t think it would be possible to be able to secure things for the next five years, but I’m so happy that, that will be the case.

“I’ve loved every moment of my time here, even the tough times, and I think we’re building to something nice.

“It’s exciting times at the Rabbitohs and I’m looking forward to seeing where we can take it in 2019 and beyond.”

Cook earned two caps for the Kangaroos in 2018 as well as playing in all three of the Blues’ Origin games this year.
