Another new sponsor for Super League

Bachelors Peas has become an official sponsor of the First Utility Super League ahead of the 2016 season.

Star players from each team went head-to-head at the Super League launch earlier this week in the ‘Leaning Tower of Peas-a’ challenge, with Mitchell Dodds of Warrington Wolves seeing off Leeds Rhinos’ Kallum Watkins… an omen ahead of next week’s opening fixture?

As well as building towers of cans, the players enjoyed a portion of fish, chips and mushy peas, and took a trip down memory lane to relive their childhood experiences of eating one of the country’s best loved meals.

The great and good of the sport will be working with Batchelors Peas on a host of exciting activities over the course of the season.

Fans will be able to interact with the brand at all First Utility Super League matches until November including Magic Weekend, the two-day Super League spectacular, returning to Newcastle in May.

Chris Wright, marketing director at Princes said: “Becoming an Official Partner of First Utility Super League is a brilliant way for Batchelors Peas to kick off the year, and we’ve started as we mean to go on!

“The season launch was a huge success and it was great to see the players getting involved and sampling Batchelors peas – the perfect matchday must-have to accompany fish and chips.

“We’re looking forward to involving players and fans in more mushy pea fun as the season progresses.”

To celebrate its new partnership, Batchelors Peas is launching a promotion in March 2016, to run throughout the rugby league season.

Featured on all cans of Marrowfat Bigga Peas, Chip Shop Style Mushy Peas and Original Mushy Peas, the offer will give customers the chance to win an ‘ultimate superfan experience’ by going online and entering the unique code on the underside of the label.

RFL Commercial Director Chris Rawlings said: “As one of the UK’s favourite family brands, we are delighted to have Batchelors Peas on board for 2016, especially as their canned peas are already so popular amongst fans of the sport.

“It’s fantastic to announce Batchelors Peas’ sponsorship as the build up to the first match of the season gathers pace.  This is going to be a brilliant year for rugby league and we are all looking forward to getting the season underway.”

The First Utility Super League season kicks off on Thursday 4 February when last year’s champions Leeds Rhinos play Warrington Wolves at Headingley Stadium.

Founded in 1895, Batchelors Peas produces top quality Marrowfat, Mushy and Garden Peas, and has been a teatime family favourite for decades.
