Anasta’s future uncertain

Dejected Roosters skipper Braith Anasta says he is ‘confused’ at the club’s reluctance to offer him a new contract.

Anasta, 29, who picked up the Dally M captain of the year for 2010, faces being forced out of the squad or a significant pay cut.

“I didn’t want it to play out like this,” Anasta told The Daily Telegraph.

“I didn’t want to be looking elsewhere, but it looks like I may have to. I’m a bit confused about it all. I don’t know what to do or say.”

Speculation that Anasta was poised to sign for North Queensland at the end of last season was quickly crushed by club officials.

But now it seems for 4-cap test veteran will be forced to join another club.

“It’s just the way the rugby league cycle and the salary cap works. I’m no different to anyone else. There’s no bad blood,” Anasta added.
