Aiton free to face Samoa

Papua New Guinea hooker Paul Aiton has successfully appealed the one-match ban handed down to him following the defeat against France.

Aiton, 28, was cited for a high tackle on Morgan Escare during the 9-8 defeat, but has now been cleared to face Samoa at Craven Park on Monday.

An International Disciplinary Tribunal lifted the suspension but imposed a formal caution, which will remain on the player’s disciplinary record for the duration of the tournament.
