2015: Tries, big hits, funnies and grubs

Correspondent

As 2015 winds down we bring you some of the best tries, tackles, dirty incidents and funny moments that caught our eye in a year of rugby league.

This year has been a blockbuster – we’ve seen Leeds claim a fantastic treble, North Queensland finally grab some silverware, England end their series drought and Leigh collapse in the Middle Eights.

We’ve seen Wakefield survive, Queensland slaughter NSW in Game III and witnessed some moments of magic, and madness, on and off the field. From the Super League to the NRL to the representative arena, it’s been far from boring.

Here’s some we’d like to reflect on, enjoy:

TRIES

There may not ever be a better try in Super League. Here is Rangi Chase‘s outstanding effort for Salford.

Fancy footwork from Wests Tigers fullback James Tedesco to score.

Kevin ‘Air Jordan’ Penny.

Take a bow Ritchie Myler.

ORIGIN

Queensland ended their one-year drought and won the shield back.

Justin Hodges surely didn’t miss Ryan Hoffman.

Dangerous stuff

GRUBBY

Cameron Smith goes tap dancing on Isaac Luke‘s noggin.

Ashton Sims asks did you get my letter? Perhaps I forgot to stamp it.

Fun and games between Wakefield and Leigh.

And some more.

Just not a good look at all.

Ben Pomeroy loses the plot.

HITS

A welcome to Manly for Dylan Walker from his new teammate Jorge Taufau.

OK this is rugby union but welcome back Sam Burgess! Looking forward to seeing more of this in the greatest game of all in 2016.

A trademark Steve Matai hello.

And another.

FUNNIES

Mark Gasnier is a big fan of Sam Tomkins. He may even ask him out for a date.

Sitting next to Paul Anderson is dangerous.

Kenny Sutcliffe knows the dangers of interviewing players in dressing rooms all too well…

Melbourne showing how not to defend a cross-field kick.

Ex-teammates Willie Mason and Korbin Sims are really good friends. Close friends, you could even say…

Happy New Year to all and here’s to an even better 2016! Get funky!
