It got feisty in the Championship Shield at the weekend.

Johnny Campbell scored a hat-trick to help Batley Bulldogs ease past Sheffield Eagles 44-4 at the Fox’s Biscuits Stadium on Sunday. Dom Brambani, Sam Smeaton, Lewis Galbraith, Brad Day and James Brown scored Batley’s other tries.

Barrow Raiders came from being 14-12 behind to run-out 34-18 winners against Swinton Lions at Craven Park. USA international Ryan Burroughs and Brett Carter scored two each for the Raiders, while Mike Butt grabbed a brace for Swinton. Barrow pair Ryan Duffy and Martin Aspinwall were sin-binned for a late tackle and dangerous contact, while Swinton centre George Tyson was yellow carded for dissent.

Martyn Ridyard put in a man of the match display on his return to action as he inspired Featherstone Rovers to a 40-28 victory over Dewsbury Rams at the LD Nutrition Stadium. Ridyard scored a try as well as kicking four goals, while covering Ian Hardman in the full-back role. Connor Farrell also put in a strong performance for Rovers, scoring two tries.

Toby Adamson and Kevin Larroyer were shown yellow cards at the start of the second half for fighting, while Italy international Richard Lepori was sin-binned for a high tackle, with France star Ilias Bergal then being sin-binned for fighting.
