Tommy Martyn Senior passes away

Former Leigh forward Tommy Martyn Senior has passed away at the age of 69.

Martyn died yesterday after a short illness.

He played for Batley, Warrington and the Centurions in the 1970s and 1980s, as well as representing England five times.

His was the younger brother of Leigh and Great Britain second-rower Mick Martyn.

Martyn’s son, Tommy Martyn Junior, played for Oldham, St Helens and Leigh from 1989 to 2004.
