Smith disappointed by Trinity defeat
Wakefield coach Brian Smith was left with a strong feeling of disappointment after his team lost to Salford in the opening game of the Qualifers on Sunday.
The final score was 34-26 in favour of the Red Devils, but Smith felt his team had played well enough to win the game.
“We are very disappointed because I have never seen us play better than that,” he told reporters after the game.
“We played against a team who were faultless apart from Ben Jones-Bishop not fielding the ball for a likely try.
“But Salford got through the first half without conceding a penalty and that is very difficult and a tall order.
“We did not finish the job off but there were things out of our control.”
