Former Great Britain scrum-half Bobbie Goulding has stated that he is keen to succeed Alan Hunte as Salford’s head of youth development.

The 43-year-old, who did play for Salford in a successful career, feels that he has the skills, experiences and contacts to make a success of the job.

“I would love this job with Salford and I want it,” he told the Manchester Evening News.

“There is no better person for it than me. I know I can do a job for Salford in what is a vital role.

“I have been there and lived it. I have also been through adversity and can help the young players better than anyone.

“I love coaching and I have the contacts. I have the experience too.

“I am watching three or four amateur games every weekend. This is a role I have always wanted at this stage of my career.

“My links are already there in place. My experience and my coaching expertise can be very beneficial on so many fronts.

“It is a challenge I would relish and would greatly enjoy.”
