Featherstone to open new stands for visit of Bulls

Featherstone Rovers fans will be able to enjoy some new facilities at the Big Fella’s Stadium this weekend, when the Bradford Bulls are the visitors.

The club have received permission to open their two new stands at the ground.

The two stands have been erected with volunteer labour, and have been recycled from the old McCain Stadium at Scarborough FC.

“This is fantastic news for the club and everyone has a spring in their step,” Fev chief executive Pat Cluskey said.

“We are hoping for a bumper crowd and this is the very least our gang of volunteers deserve.

“Everyone at the club is full of admiration for the time, effort and money raising activities that have taken place to make Sunday possible.

“With the new structures in place and the chance of a return to the top flight, we hope this really catches the imagination of Featherstone Rovers fans and we’d encourage any supporters to bring any potential new fans or lapsed fans for a great afternoon.

“We are expecting a large crowd and it would be great to see the Big Fella’s Stadium packed to the rafters. Commercially, hospitality and all executive boxes for the clash have been sold out for months which is normally a positive indicator.

“We have a number of ex players of both clubs as special guests including the likes of Jimmy Thompson, Steve Evans, Keith Bridges and Paul Newlove so it should be a memorable occasion.”
