Broughton keen to battle Red Devils

Huddersfield winger Jodie Broughton is relishing the chance to play against his old club this weekend.

The 26-year-old joined the Giants from the Salford Red Devils in time for the beginning of the 2014 season.

“I’m really excited about this one,” said Broughton.

“I was gutted not to play against them earlier in the season, because it’s always a bit special playing against your former club, even if there are a lot of different faces from last year.

“But while it may feel a little strange facing Salford at first, I don’t think that feeling will last very long.

“Huddersfield is definitely my club now, and I love being part of it.

“Last year the Giants won the League Leaders’ Shield, so I expected this club to be the best, and since I’ve been here I’ve not seen anything to dispute that.

“But even though we’ve won so many games, I still don’t think our performances have been all that good, and it’s about time we did something about that,

“I’m determined to do what I can to make that happen, and I certainly don’t intend for Salford to stand in my way.

“Doing my best for the Giants is all that matters this weekend, nothing else.”

Broughton also has few regrets about missing out on the era of Dr Marwan Koukash’s ownership of Salford.

“I wish Salford all the best but I don’t envy them and I’m not really surprised at how they are doing,” he added.

“I always thought they would struggle with gelling so many new players in. There was always going to be disruption.

“It is going to be difficult for them but I am sure they will gel over the next couple of months and years if the players stay long enough.

“Marwan is a great bloke and is good for the game and genuinely trying to do good things for Salford.

“He’s just impatient, he wants success now which is understandable. But it’s difficult to do and will take time.”
