Warrington’s Ben Westwood has been handed a four-match ban following his headbutt on Morgan Escare in last week’s win over Wigan.

Westwood, 37, will now miss the Wolves’ games against Wakefield, Hull, London and St Helens.

The RFL’s disciplinary report says the former England international pleaded guilty to the offence but challenged the grading.

That challenge was unsuccessful, though he did escape the maximum suspension carried by that tariff which is five games.

He was also fined £500.

Westwood has already missed two matches through suspension this season after receiving a Grade C charge for dangerous contact following the opening day victory over Leeds.
