York sign Jubb

York City Knights have signed promising hooker Will Jubb on a one-year deal from Hull Kingston Rovers.

Jubb was the captain of the City of Hull Academy Under-19s side before going on to make his debut for Hull KR in the 2016 Super League Qualifiers.

He actually featured 16 times for the Knights on dual-registration from the Robins in 2017, scoring five tries.

The 21-year-old adds competition for places in the hooker role alongside Andy Ellis and Harry Carter.

And York head coach, James Ford, is a keen admirer of Jubb.

He said: “He gives really good service from dummy-half and defensively, he’s good in the middle.

“He is a great kid and a really good prospect. If he trains and plays with the same attitude he brought with him on dual-registration last year, we’ll have a great player on our books.”

On the move, Jubb said: “I’m really looking forward to the challenge of playing for York again next year and testing myself in a really competitive league.

“I really enjoyed my time at the club last year, especially playing in front of the great fans that make the long trips to support the team week in, week out. I really want to play my part in helping the team to build going forward from last season.”
