Samoa World Cup star Anthony Milford will remain with Canberra Raiders for the 2014 season, before moving on to Brisbane Broncos.

Milford, 19, was one of the stand-out performers during the group stages of the World Cup, helping his country through to the quarter-finals, where they were beaten by Fiji.

He had requested a release from Canberra back in August, but will honour the final year of his contract before signing for the Broncos on a two-year deal.

Raiders CEO Don Furner said: “We acknowledge that Anthony has battled home sickness and is very close to his family however we are pleased that he will be playing for our club in 2014.”

Milford has been with Canberra since the age of 13, when he was placed on a scholarship.

He is currently on holiday following his World Cup exploits, and is due to return to pre-season training on December 16.
