Workington hooker Karl Olstrom is facing the prospect of a lengthy ban from rugby league, after being accused of assaulting a referee.

The player is looking at a Grade F disciplinary charge, which carries a potential ban of eight games.

The 24-year-old will appear in front of an RFL independent disciplinary tribunal next Tuesday.

The offence reportedly took place after 27 minutes of Town’s 62-0 defeat to Sheffield Eagles at the weekend.

Olstrom is accused of running into referee Joe Roberts and pushing him over.
