Wildcats blast media speculation

The Wakefield board of directors have blasted media speculation surrounding the club’s future.

Much has been made of the Wildcats’ alleged financial problems in recent weeks, with the club due to face a winding up order at the High Court.

A club statement read: “Both the League Express and Rugby Leaguer newspapers have run articles over recent weeks in which the sale of Belle Vue has been brought into question and in particular the Chairman of the Club has been criticised for his involvement.

“These articles and the criticism levied at the club and Chairman in particular are unfounded and we refute the allegations made.

“The Club is taking legal advice on the articles printed and no further comments will be made at this time.”
